Opportunities and Challenges in Mining Behavioral Economics to Design Persuasive Technology

Behavioral economics examines people’s decision making processes in everyday situations. I argue that behavioral economics can provide a repertoire of a tool that can inform the design of persuasive technology. In this position paper, I propose strategies drawn from behavioral economics, and identify opportunities and challenges in applying the strategies to the design of persuasive technology.
